What is BMI?
Body Mass Index (BMI) is a simple number derived from your height and weight. It's widely used as a screening tool to identify potential weight-related health risks. The formula is: BMI = weight (kg) Γ· heightΒ² (mΒ²).
BMI is a useful population-level indicator but doesn't distinguish between muscle mass, bone density, or fat distribution. Athletes may have a high BMI due to muscle. Use it as a starting point, not a diagnosis.
