⚠️ This PDF is already well-optimized β€” compression saved very little space. This is common with text-only or already-compressed PDFs.

FAQ
How much will my PDF be compressed?

It depends entirely on your PDF's content. PDFs with lots of high-resolution images can shrink by 50–80%. Text-only PDFs or PDFs that were already compressed may see little to no reduction β€” that's normal and expected.

Will text and layout look different after compression?

No. Text, fonts, page layout, and vector graphics are not affected. Only embedded raster images are re-encoded at a lower quality. At the "Balanced" setting, the visual difference is typically not noticeable.

Why is my compressed file the same size or larger?

This happens when your PDF contains no compressible images, or when it was already optimized. PDF-lib's structure optimization adds a small overhead. In these cases, your original file is already optimal.

Can I compress a password-protected PDF?

No. Encrypted PDFs cannot be processed without the password. Remove the password first (open in your PDF viewer and export without encryption), then compress here.

Is there a file size limit?

No strict limit β€” it depends on your device's available memory. PDFs up to several hundred megabytes typically work fine on modern devices.
